Hanging Longing
50" x 70" Recycled Plastic Packages & fabric, Thread, Yarn
Hanging Longing is a piece that expresses a bittersweet yearning for home and the connection between Korea and the United States. Inspired by the tradition of repurposing materials in Jogakbo, the work symbolizes a journey toward home through the image of a flying kite. The shared colors of both flags and the long tail, reminiscent of the otgoreum of a hanbok, convey longing, identity, and vibrant energy. This artwork suggests that the journey toward home is not just a path, but a process that includes movement, pauses, reflection, and recovery.
